HEAP and PIPP Update Announcement
We are no longer under the Department of Development. We are now under the Department of Jobs and Family Services. The state will no longer mail HEAP/PIPP applications to our customers. You can only get one by downloading one from the website or coming into our office in Cheshire to obtain one. They can no longer be mailed to the Columbus address. You will need to dorp them off at our ocation or mail them to our location. Along with the application you will need to return the following items:
- Social Security cards for all household members
- Income for the last 30 days
- Electric bill
- Heating bill if not using electric (ex propane, wood, coal, natural gas, etc.)
The address for returning your application and documents is:
Gallia-Meigs Community Action Agency
P.O. BOX 272
Cheshire, Ohio 45620
Attention: HEAP Department
To obtain an application to download and print, go to the website: https://jfs.ohio.gov
Under Public Assistance, click on Energy Assistance. From there scroll down to “Apply for Ohio Energy Assistance Programs” and click on it. Scroll down on the next page to “Energy Assistance Application” and click “download the application here” From there you can print the application.
It will give you an option to apply online, however, it can be very difficult and most cannot upload the needed documentation. It is quicker also if you return it to our agency. Especially if your PIPP reverification is soon. Online applications can take longer to process. If you choose to apply online, keep in mind even though it gives you an option to apply for a Crisis Program, it will not go through. Crisis applicants must come into the agency.
Any questions can be directed to Gallia-Meigs Community Action at 740-444-4400 DO NO CONTACT YOUR LOCAL JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES. Even though we are under them, they do not process these applications.
