Gallia Meigs C.A.A.&#8217;s Emergency HEAP Program\nbegan Monday, <strong>November 1, 2021<\/strong> and is\ncontinuing through <strong>March 31, 2022<\/strong>.\nOur IVR phone number (Interactive Voice Response System), 740-444-4371, stills\ngives the customers access 7days a week\/24 hours a day for making their appointment\nby phone. Please listen till the end of the recording as you will be given a\nconfirmation number. You must have that for your appointment to be completed. You\nwill have to have your social security number or client number and your gas and\nelectric account number in order to make your appointment. Please note, an appointment\n<strong>MAY NOT<\/strong> extend a scheduled\nutility shut-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emergency HEAP provides\nassistance to households that have had utilities disconnected, face the threat\nof disconnection, or have 25% or less supply\nof bulkfuel, or less than 10 day supply of woodor coal. The program allows a\none-time payment per heating season to restore or retain home heating.\nThe potential dollar amount will be up to <strong>$175<\/strong>\nfor regulated utilities, up to <strong>$750<\/strong>\nfor un\u00adregulated utilities, up to <strong>$550<\/strong> for wood, coal or pellets and up to <strong>$900<\/strong> for propane\/fuel oil, etc., and up to 8 cylinders of propane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The income guidelines for Regular\nHEAP and Emergency HEAP are the same. However, Regular HEAP\nrequires the previous 12 months income while the past month income is acceptable\nfor Emergency HEAP. The 12-month period or one month period\nfor the help is determined from date of application making it possible\nfor some with decreased income during these periods to qualify later\nin the program. Examples of these types of situations could occur from layoff,\nstrike, retirement, disability or death of a spouse\nor household member and any changes due to the COVID-19 virus. Documentation\nverifying ALL household income must be provided when\napplying for E-HEAP or Regular HEAP. Also a copy of the applicant&#8217;s most recent\ngas\/electric bill is required. It is also required that\nyou provide social security cards, for <strong>ALL<\/strong>\nhousehold members. &nbsp;You will also be asked for\nproof of landlord, including address and phone number. If the grandparents have\ncustody of the children in the home, we will need the\ncustody papers also.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following income levels by\nhousehold size should be used to determine eligibility. These income guidelines\nrepresent the 175% calculation and are revised annually.
